LAX to Logan on Monday morning. Nice flight and less than 5 hours due to tail winds!

One Stopover on the Way Home
To avoid the 12 hour 'red eye' nonstop flight back, we decided to fly to Los Angeles and spend the night at the Ritz Carleton in Marina del Rey.......on the water but only 12 miles from the airport. It was a nice way to 'slow down' the re-entry!

One last lazy day.......Sun, Beach and Relaxation!
We woke to another sunny day in Hawaii. The activities today were to be minimal, or at least unplanned. We slept in a bit later, had a great breakfast out on the terrace.......and proceeded to goof off most of the day. We may have gone for a drive, but cannot honestly remember! We did head back into Honolulu for dinner at 'House Without a Key' at the Halekulani, which was wonderful. Even less photos today!

Another 'Work Day" but lots of other fun!
This was the second half of the GTAB contribution. It was really nice that Sheryl (Seaman) offered her house to be used as the setting for the second day of discussions.......very laid back and comfortable. I headed out to Kailua, while Andrea enjoyed her day at the Kahala and a nice spa treatment! I mentioned this yesterday.......a nice day with separate agendas and a wonderful night at the Hau Tree restaurant. As a reminder, the Hau Tree is in the Kaimana Beach Hotel.......formerly known as the New Otani Hotel. We stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions in previous visits because the university had a 'special rate' here. It has a great location (literally next door to the Outrigger Canoe Club and Michel's at the Colony Surf Club.....where we have had previous Valentine's dinners). The ownership change has been beneficial and the restaurant remains spectacular. The original 'sand under the tables' has been upgraded to ceramic tiles, but the location and presence on the beach is the best in Honolulu. We really love this place!
First, lobby at the Kahala. Beyond this we are a bit 'phot short' today!
Arriving at Sheryl's house.
While back at the Kahala, Andrea is relaxing!
Sheryl's house and Clark L. at the controls......with a ZOOM call to China. Below is a shot of Sheryl's dog.......who did not want to be left out of the discussions.
and more relaxing at the Kahala for Andrea!
Diamond Head in the distance......
We could not resist staying until it was time to close! Last ones out!

A Day with the Global Track Advisory Board (GTAB)
One of the reasons for our trip was to attend the 'spring' meeting for the GTAB at the University of Hawaii School of Architecture. It ended up only requiring two days........so too heavy a lift. The meetings are actually quite interesting and productive. On the first day we met at the University from 10 -4:00, followed by dinner at a place we never would have found on our own.....very funky! On the second day we met at one of the Boad member's house in Kailua. That was a nice change, including lunch a Buzz's (a local landmark and crazy 'steakshack' on the beach. I was able to make short work of our 'happy hour' and get back to the Kahala for a bit of relaxing and finally.......dinner not too far away at the Hau Tree Restaurant. (I think I am catching the hang of shortening my narratives!)
Also, today's work effort at the University has cramped our touristlifestyle.......with notably less photos!
Starting with the inability to escape massive breakfast buffets
Morning presentations by our Chinese students from Tongji University.
